What was I thinking?:

A recumbent has to be the easiest bike to build from wood.   (fewest joints)   Use a 4x4 post to make a simple long recumbent single bike and if it works, convert it later to a tandem.

How Does it ride?:

It is stable and well behaved from 2-18 mph. It is slow turning with a large turning radius.   It's a dog on hills.   It has a cool medieval look and feel.   While riding, you look out over a heavy battering ram and you feel the buzz of the chain grinding against wood and vibrating over stiff plastic chain rollers.   I like to imagine how bikes could have developed in the middle ages or renaissance from crossing a wheel barrow with treadle operated grinding wheel.
